“One must, first of all, have a vision of the type of work they intend to be involved in, and be prepared to devote at least 10 to 15 years to the business, investing in development for the first five years, as it is only after this period of time, in our experience, that efforts will come to fruition. New business is then easier to come by because people recognize the brand. A good reference base has been established, trained professionals employed, and the support of business banks ensured. Locally, it is imperative to adjust to western and European standards of business, as Europe and the West become increasingly present in this area. This is a difficult approach in Serbia, less profitable, but more effective.
It is also crucial to keep working on oneself, staying abreast of the latest professional advancements, and constantly improving. A broader based knowledge is also important, in such areas as finance and law. I would like to emphasize that hard work does yield results and that anyone who intends to run a serious business, needs to work a great deal. Beginnings are certainly difficult, with a lot of self-doubt and numerous obstacles, but one must remain confident, persevere and success is assured.
I would like to underline that a company’s people are its most important asset and that without capable, first-class professionals, no business can flourish. I am proud of the fact that quite a number of our engineers have evolved from trainees into excellent project managers, capable to manage design and lead construction of even the most complex buildings. There is no successful company without quality personnel.”
